The Candlenut Steiner School

is located near Kuranda, a small village in the rainforest, approximately 25 minutes north of Cairns, a major tourist hub in Tropical North Queensland.

How to find the venue.

The APC10 will be hosted at the Steiner School, 46 Boyle Road, Kuranda. Take the Kennedy Hwy to Kuranda and turn right at the traffic lights into Myola Road.

Boyle Road is approximately 6kms from the Kennedy Hwy turnoff. Go past the Kuranda State College campus and look for a Pony Club.

The Boyle Road intersection is on your left just after the Pony Club. The school is less than 1km from this intersection.

The 42 acre property is a beautiful and tranquil place where children have access to wide open spaces cocooned by rainforest.

There are multiple rainforest walking tracks that meander through the property, passing through a unique wildlife corridor, abundant with local animal and plant life, and leading to seasonal creeks.

The school is a five minute walk from the beautiful Barron River.

As a Conference venue the school has everything we need.

A large hall, commercial grade kitchen; camping grounds; a beautiful early learning centre for our Permi-Bubs childcare service; attractive covered outdoor areas for the Wet Topics Bar; sculptured pizza oven and BBQ area; huge vegie garden which is the site of music classes and dancing; and naturally designed, large and inviting classrooms for our session streams and meetings.

Catering for APC10 - It's local!

The catering for this event is being managed by the school community. They have recruited Chef Dan, a parent at the school and one of Cairns' finest and most experienced chefs. Together we are providing only in season, fresh, organic/biodynamic (where-ever possible) and whole foods - all sourced from the Atherton Tablelands & surrounding areas within 200km of the venue.

Accommodation Options

The school playing fields will be open to us for camping. You can hire tents through us or bring your own.


The car park area will be set aside for onsite vans.

Kuranda Resort

They have beds from $19 per night (backpacker/dormitory) through to hotel rooms, and self-contained units. We'll run a daily shuttle bus between the Kuranda Resort and the convergence venue.
